Addon & Companion

Collect what you discover. Explore what the community knows.

The ForeverDB addon and Windows Companion are the in-game collector and desktop tools that gather observations; the AzerDex website you're on now presents the approved, aggregated result. Both tools are in alpha.

Overview

ForeverDB grows from players who run the collector. The addon watches what you naturally do in-game - looting, gathering, fishing, disenchanting - and records it locally. The Windows Companion reads that export and adds search, maps built from your own game install, synchronization and a Guildbook. Nothing reaches this website directly: every public figure here passes through a separate, owner-reviewed publication step first - see how it works below.

ForeverDB in-game Addon

Loot, gathering & tooltip observations

The addon watches creature loot and skinning, mining and herbalism nodes, fishing and fishing pools, containers and GameObjects, and disenchant results - then adds observed-rate statistics directly to item tooltips.

How AzerDex works

The addon collects observations locally. The Companion synchronizes permitted observations to a private backend. Private records stay in that protected backend - a separate publication process validates and aggregates approved public statistics before anything reaches this website. The public beta shows only that published data, refreshed automatically every 15 minutes.

  1. Step 1WoW: ForeverYou play the game as normal.
  2. Step 2ForeverDB AddonCollects loot, gathering, fishing and disenchant observations locally. Never makes a network request.
  3. Step 3Windows CompanionReads the addon's exported SavedVariables and synchronizes permitted observations.
  4. Step 4Private backendRaw submissions are stored in a protected database, never served directly to the public website.
  5. Step 5Approved publicationA separate, owner-reviewed process validates and aggregates data before anything reaches AzerDex.
  6. Step 6AzerDexThe public site you're on now - built entirely from that approved, aggregated output.

Installation

  1. 1

    Get the ForeverDB addon

The addon is source-available on GitHub today. Download or clone the addon source and place theForeverDB folder in your WoW: Forever Interface/AddOns directory.

  2. 2

    Enable it in the client

Enable ForeverDB from the AddOns list at the character select screen, then log in. It targets WoW: Forever interface 16001.

  3. 3

    Verify it's collecting

Run /fdb status in-game to confirm the collector is active, and /fdb last after any loot, gather or fishing action to see the most recent observation.

  4. 4

    Get the Windows CompanionPending release

A signed, one-download Companion installer is not available yet. Builds are currently produced by the project's own GitHub Actions workflows - see the project and build instructions. This page will link the official release once one is published.

  5. 5

    Understand sync and privacy

The Companion reads only your own addon's exported data. Manual Sync Now is available for an installed Companion; automatic background sync, AzerDex account sign-in and registered-device linking are being rolled out separately and are not required for the addon or Companion to work on their own.

A public, signed Companion installer is not available yet; it depends on distribution and release work still in progress. This page links the project's own GitHub source and build instructions in the meantime, and will link the official release once it is published. See the getting-started guide.

FAQ & Support

What does the addon collect?
Creature loot and skinning, mining and herbalism nodes, fishing and fishing pools, containers/GameObjects, and disenchant results - each with the item, the source, and how it was obtained. It never makes a network request on its own.
Does it require the Companion?
No. The addon works on its own and exports its observations to SavedVariables. The Companion is what reads that export and offers search, maps, sync and Guildbook on top of it.
What does the Companion synchronize?
Your own addon's exported observations, so you can search and browse them locally and (for installations that choose to) share them into the wider dataset. Automatic background sync is being rolled out gradually; manual Sync Now is available today.
Is an AzerDex account required?
No. Anonymous installations work fully on their own. Account sign-in, registered-device linking and automatic sync are being rolled out separately and are not part of this public beta website.
What does the public beta currently contain?
The public beta shows only sanitized, aggregated observations that the publication pipeline has published (refreshed automatically every 15 minutes). Coverage is partial and still growing; local test builds use a separate, clearly bannered synthetic dataset. See how the data works for the full explanation.
How can I troubleshoot installation or syncing?
Start with /fdb status in-game to confirm the addon is collecting and exporting. The getting-started guide covers the addon setup end to end.
Where can I report issues?
Open an issue on the GitHub repository - the most reliable way to reach the project today.
